One-Word Project: HOME

Well this was actually an easy assignment for me!- being all cooped up in the house this winter b/c of the cold has lead to me having to do my photo experimentation inside. And that’s resulted in a lot of still life in and around our home. (Max is too fast for a slow shutter and Andy, as much as he loves to model- hehe, has been my subject several times already)

So my favorite Christmas ‘gift’ this year was from my father-in-law. He used to be an undercover cop and enjoyed doing photography on the side (and some at work). So over the holidays, he pulled out his old little Canon AT-1 35mm rangefinder and has loaned it to me to experiment with! 🙂 One of his comments about it was, “this thing has taken a lot of pics of dead bodies”  oh geez! hah-  a little creepy!

I’ve really enjoyed playing around with it so far. 1. it’s saving me $ to experiment with 35mm rather than medium format film  2. it’s a smaller camera, so it’s much more fun to carry with when I go places  and 3. it’s really fun just to learn a new camera. I love that with old film cameras, they all have their different ways of operating them- buttons are all different, loading the film is different, etc.

So anyway, the color on the film isn’t the best of quality b/c of using the cheaper consumer-grade film just to practice, but I think they still turned out pretty well.

love, love, love jade plants and terracotta pots…

one good thing about winter- grapefruit!! we love it…so much so i will admit that we own an entire set of grapefruit spoons! i blame my nanna 🙂

yes, that is a pic of our recycling spewing out of the can and onto the floor…but it was pretty light!
