MEXICO / Part 2: Taxco

taxco1Ok. Yes, this trip was from this past summer… And yes, it’s now January! It’s been a hectic fall with work, weddings, and master’s classes, and I’m just now getting the chance to catch up on some things I’ve been meaning to do for a while now.

I do love that about winter- a season of slowing down and catching up, especially if you’re a wedding photographer πŸ™‚ And with lots of snow and negative temperatures (literally forecast of -1!!!) on the way, it’s the perfect time for me to snuggle up under a blanket with Max (my dog) by my side, and share some posts from summer- the season we’re longing for!

To catch you up to speed, make sure you check out the first part of our Mexico in Mexico City.

During our time in Mexico City, we took a day trip out to an amazing town called Taxco. Taxco is an old little silver mining town that was built on the side of a mountain. It spans from down along a valley all the way up the steep mountainside. (and we are talking steeep! we took local cabs- old vw bugs- that felt like they weren’t going to make it up the road in full gear!) It was a bit touristy with all it’s cute jewelry shops, and yet as we hiked up the old cobblestone streets, we could see more and more of what it’s like for the locals that live there- colorful laundry hanging on lines in the breeze, succulent plants on the balconies, a cat with her litter of kittens sunbathing on the rooftop, houses on top of houses likeΒ  perfectly fit staggered legos.

I loved every single part of visiting this town. Such a beautiful and unique place!

And of course, the food was to die for. πŸ™‚taxco8taxco9taxco4

there’s still more to show you from Mexico! stay tuned…(promise it won’t take another 4 months to share! hah)
