Katie & Travis’s WeddingPart I

Oh my goodness…this. wedding.

So here’s the thing: not only are Katie & Travis just a stinkin’ cool couple, but they also have all the resources and talents for an amazingly gorgeous wedding.

Katie is a professional graphic designer, so her invitation suite, all the signage, and the intuitive eye for beautiful design & style…that’s all her! Travis’s family owns The Pour Vineyard over in Red Bud, IL – a pretty, peaceful, and perfect wedding venue out in the country. And the day they welcomed me to the vineyard to look around and do a little wine tasting, Travis was in his element. These two put so much hard work and sweat in to creating their big day and the results…well you can see they were stunning! Oh, aaand Travis’s mom is an amazing florist that did all the florals you will see.

Yes, I know; pinch me. One lucky photographer!

There were so many pretty details and all that natural light to work with all day long that it just amounted to so much film that I MUST share with the world because not to would be a crime. So, here’s my first ever blogpost split…so stay tuned for part 2!

Sara & Woody

Ok, ya’ll.
(Yes, I do have to say ya’ll here because this was a southern wedding – Nashville, to be exact!)

I have never in all my 11 years photographing weddings, seen the genuine excitement, ease, and joy all wrapped up in one to the level at which Sara brought it that day. It’s especially in those moments when I think, yes, these two are meant to be together – it’s not the bride wrapped up in how perfectly the day goes, but it’s the excitement of taking part in and enjoying every moment while being surrounded by close family and friends. I actually got a bit choked up during her getting ready photos; it’s such an honor to watch and document such an important once-in-a-lifetime moment in another’s life.

And staying true to their laid-back style, their casual wedding was a super-fun backyard wedding. Sara’s parents have the perfect backyard for a wedding! I’m sure it’s much more work to get a back yard ready for a wedding, but the memories in that special place will last forever. Oh, and the southern food….YA’LLLLL…on point! I’ve never had herbed savory cheesecake, but what’s not to love?! And crunchy baked cheese sticks (are these a southern thing?! because one bite and I was getting nostalgia vibes from being a kid visiting my grandparents in NC!) And then topping it all off with live bluegrass music.

A beautiful day, indeed <3 And a special thanks to Sara’s brother (Jason) & sister-in-law (Megan) – they are friends of mine who made the connection happen!!

P.S. – I looooove to travel and photograph in new places! (And am always willing to cut a special deal on my photography services to do it!) Nashville, I’d love to come shoot another wedding there soon! So don’t be shy if you know or are someone that should reach out for a quote 🙂

Chelsea & Mike’s Wedding

It was truly so much fun getting to capture this Italian wedding. From the moment I stepped in the hotel room in the morning, there was Chelsea – giddy & excited. I love it when couples are down-to-earth and real, and these two know how to have a good time! The flowers, her dress, the cake and a beautiful spring day = <3
And side note, this may be the one and only time you’ll ever see me in a wedding photo; my assistant, Laura, somehow magically captured the exact fraction of a second that my flash went off when they came down the aisle and I’m not hating the effect!
