Afton & Will Maternity

Seriously had so much fun on this shoot! Here’s the scoop with these two: Will & Afton are friends we met through church. Andy and I (okay, more my idea than his) decided to gut out and totally renovate our bathroom this spring. And you are thinking- what does the bathroom have to do with a maternity session? Well, Afton is super-talented interior designer, and though I’d consider myself a visual artist, I still have doubts when it comes to huge permanent renovation projects! So I asked my two friends that are much more talented than I in that arena- Afton & Madison (my roomie from college that did the one-word project with me) to help me out with their input.

The day Afton came to look at our torn apart bathroom and help me visualize a pretty one, she told us they were pregnant…with twins!! She was so sweet to help me even though she was probably stressed, scared, excited, and tired! I had already told her that I wanted to trade services and do a portrait session with them in exchange for her help, so once we knew this news, it made perfect sense to wait a few more months and do a maternity session.

It’s not every day you get to photograph people that are willing to drive into some sketchy areas (the police even drove up to us and told us to be careful and be on the look out for crazies- hah) and make do changing outfits in the car (not to mention when you’re pregnant!). On top of that, they were super trusting and seriously so fun to shoot. And of course I loved the fact that this entire session was on film- the digital camera stayed in the trunk 🙂

Can I jump in here and say I may be a little proud of the fact that I worked a graffiti wall into a maternity session?  😉

These two are busy parents now- with two sweet, beautiful little baby girls. 🙂
